The French Institute in Myanmar created a series of events bringing creative and innovative experiences to Yangon and Mandalay through the best of French cultures. A mix of performing arts (dance and circus), media and new technologies (Virtual Reality), movies, and music enhancing Yangon and Mandalay as growing cultural cities.

First VR festival in Myanmar, VR ART FEST was a confluence of creative streams . A festival without competition where young minds round up to watch, learn, experiment and create. Among the highlight of the festival was the 48H Hackathon, where young talents from all disciplines assembled to give birth to a VR film/experience in 48 Hours. Their creations were presented to the public along with other programs such as VR Talks, Kids Day, etc.
HIP HOP DANCE | IN THE MIDDLE by Swaggers Company | National Theatre Yangon & Mandalay
Swaggers Crew presented a cross-border choreography from classical music to Hip Hop with imaginative light show. This dance piece demonstrated that in a universe of Hip-hop, women can ‘own’ the place.

PERFORMANCE | AFTERNOON OF A FOEHN VERSION 1 by Non Nova Company | National Theatre Yangon & Mandalay
An intimate performance of an intriguing puppeter and his plastic bag characters orchestrated by a Foehn wind. Blowing in the wind, they perform an amazing choreography that surprises and delights with its colourful poetry
FETE DE LA MUSIQUE | French Institute and other venues in Yangon
The Fête de la Musique, is an annual music celebration happening all over the world where amateur and professional musicians are encouraged to perform under the slogan “Faites de la musique” (Make Music!) The Institut Français de Birmanie worked with venues around town to promote this spirit of “Music Everywhere”.
